William Putsis UNC Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler Business School Professor and author of The Carrot and The Stick and Compete Smarter Not Harder

Dr. William Putsis (Bill) Dr. Putsis is Professor of Marketing, Economics and Business Strategy at the Kenan-­‐Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Faculty Fellow for Executive Programs, Yale School of Management, Yale University.

His focus is on business strategy, having worked on strategic development with companies throughout the world, including China, India and Europe as well as in the United States, with companies such as Boeing, John Deere, SAS, and Underwriter’s Laboratory. He has written two critically acclaimed business books, Compete Smarter, Not Harder (2014) and the Carrot and the Stick (2020). 

He also runs his own strategic consulting firm, Chestnut Hill Associates, founded in 1995. Chestnut Hill Associates uses the process developed in his two books to help companies find new business opportunities, to grow their core and to lead disruptive change during uncertain times.
